Moodle is an open source learning management system (LMS) that is used at Project Advance. Moodle offers a variety of features that can be used by faculty and instructors to connect in a variety of ways.

As a SUPA instructor, you can use Moodle to provide students with online access to documents, quizzes, an assignment dropbox, and online threaded discussions. You can use Moodle for one, two, or all of these features. Once you’ve set up a course section in Moodle, you can also continue to use it from year to year, updating your course over time. If you are interested in coming to this seminar. If you are interested in coming to this seminar, please let us know by completing the tech session registration form above.

Sheraton Syracuse University (Room: TBD)

Pizza will be provided!

Turnitin, an Internet-based plagiarism prevention system, is now available for use by all SU instructors, including those offering SU courses through Project Advance. This system allows instructors to upload student work (submitted as electronic files, such as a MS Word document) into the Turnitin system and receive a report that identifies “matched text.”

The instructor still must analyze the report for originality, but Turnitin does provide them with more information that can be used to make this determination. Turnitin.com references its database solely for the purpose of detecting plagiarism of such papers. SU’s Office of Academic Integrity recommends instructors inform students they are using Turnitin, and it provides a sample written statement that can be handed out to students. If you are interested in coming to this seminar, please let us know by completing the tech session registration form above.
